Overview
A long time client of Align is looking to build a platform with committed, permanent capital to acquire and grow niche, profitable businesses for the long term. We’re looking for an Entrepreneur in Residence — an operator with an investor mindset who wants to lead the creation of this acquisition platform from the ground up. This is an industry agnostic role. What we’re betting on here is the entrepreneur.
This is a rare opportunity to partner with long-term capital, design an acquisition strategy, source and close deals, and actively operate or oversee businesses to drive growth and value creation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the acquisition strategy: Identify, evaluate, and acquire small to mid-sized companies. Most likely in Software, but again, this is industry agnostic.
Deal sourcing and execution: Develop a pipeline of potential targets, perform due diligence, negotiate deal terms, and close transactions.
Operate and grow acquired companies: Take a hands-on approach to leadership or oversee management teams with full P&L responsibility.
Develop playbooks for scaling: Build systems, processes, and strategic frameworks to accelerate post-acquisition growth.
Collaborate with leadership: Work with finance and capital partners to allocate resources effectively and achieve long-term growth objectives.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Proven operator: Founder, CEO, or senior leader with a track record of building and scaling businesses. You can hire, delegate and most importantly - build.
M&A experience: Comfortable with acquisitions, integrations, and understanding SaaS metrics and valuation.
Investor mindset: Ability to evaluate business potential and drive growth with disciplined capital allocation.
Entrepreneurial spirit: Resourceful, persistent, and able to navigate complex challenges. This is absolutely a non starter and is probably the most important part. Great entrepreneurs are learners. What we can’t teach is resilience and relentlessness.
Backgrounds of interest: Search fund operators, micro-PE leaders, venture studio founders, or executives from software roll-up/holding companies.
Location flexibility, with a preference for New York, Salt Lake City, or Toronto.
